Candidate Overview

Lewes is an historic market town and former inland port on the River Ouse in East Sussex. The county town of East Sussex with a population of approximately 17,500. Dating back to the Roman era it grew rapidly in the 19th Century when the coming of the railway resulted in the closure of its port. Its South Downs setting, history, good communications and character make it a desirable, although expensive, place to live.
