Patricia Philbin currently serves as a Director of Services with Galway City Council, where she is responsible for Infrastructure Development and Planning. In this role, she oversees critical aspects of the city’s infrastructure projects and planning initiatives, ensuring sustainable development and efficient urban planning to support Galway's growth and enhance the quality of life for its residents.

Patricia played a pivotal role in Galway’s cultural development, particularly in its successful bid to become the European Capital of Culture (ECOC) in 2020. As the project director, she led the efforts to secure this prestigious designation for Galway. Following the successful bid, Patricia was seconded to the Galway ECOC company for three years. During this period, she was instrumental in delivering the ECOC cultural programme, overseeing the planning and execution of various cultural initiatives.

Patricia boasts over 30 years of experience in public service, encompassing a diverse array of fields. Her extensive background includes significant contributions in housing, economic development, community development, culture, and human resources.

Patricia will facilitate the Irish Built Exemplars: Galway session on Thursday 30 May.
