Owen Barton will be speaking during the 'Culture's Lifeblood' session at the Quality of Life: Remaking the post-industrial city day conference in Manchester on Friday 4 October 2024
Owen is an Associate Historic Environment Consultant at LUC’s Manchester office.
LUC wants to deliver better futures for nature, people, and places. Owen’s passion for historic places comes from his appreciation of them as a melting pot of the past, present and future. By understanding the significance of historic places, their opportunities for change, and applying problem-solving, teamwork, and creative solutions, it is possible to build an equal or better legacy for future generations.
Owen’s projects include the culture- and heritage-led regeneration of Prescot town centre in Merseyside while at Knowsley Council, and with LUC, two design codes in Cumbria, and a conservation area regeneration plan for Hamilton Square, Birkenhead. These projects not only focus on conservation but also inclusivity and tackling the climate and biodiversity crises.
Through these diverse projects, Owen has collaborated with landscape architects, architects, planners, urban designers, contractors, clients, funders, businesses, craftspeople and artists.
