Mark Gantly spent his career in the IT sector, most recently as an R&D Director with HP Enterprise. He also served as Managing Director  of HP Galway  from 2009-15. He was an active board member of the American Chamber of Commerce, serving as President in 2019.

Since retiring in 2020, Mark has built a portfolio of activities, working with tech startups and with not-for-profit organisations in community healthcare and culture. He was the founding chair of the Greater Galway Forum which brings together executive leaders from the major public and private sector organisations who have the responsibility for delivering a positive  economic and social future for Galway. This forum has supported placemaking initiatives in the city including the 2023 and 2024 Academy of Urbanism conferences.

An engineering graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Mark also holds Diplomas in Business Strategy (IMI) and in Company Director (IOD). He is a Fellow of the Irish Academy Engineering

Mark will contribute as the rapporteur for the National Balance Imperative: Challenge + Opportunity session on Tuesday 25 March.
