David Browne is a former President of the RIAI and chairman of RKD Architects. Based in Dublin, he has worked on masterplanning, urban design and building projects in Ireland, the UK, Europe, the Middle East, China and Africa. He has over 35 years’ experience in the master-planning, design and project management of urban regeneration, mixed use, industrial, office, commercial, healthcare, education, leisure, residential and refurbishment projects.

He is one of the leaders of the Irish Cities 2070 Group which is working to envision the future form and sustainability of Irish cities with the many challenges which they face. Irish Cities 2070 is a multi-disciplinary group, sponsored by the RIAI and the Irish Academy of Engineering, with expertise in architecture, urban design, planning, engineering and demography with members coming from both professional practice and academia. The group is developing models for Irish city centres and the densification of suburbs, and how our cities might grow compactly, sustainably and with resilience to provide healthy, safe, secure and enjoyable places for all of our citizens.
