Non-Members / significant others are welcome.
Places are strictly limited - please fill in the form below if you are interested! - SUBMISSIONS CLOSED 02 APRIL 2024
This study tour will be an opportunity to experience the quality of life that comes from well-thought out urban planning. Not only will we experience two urban centres, we will also get to see how they fit into their surroundings.
The plan is to travel to Barcelona first. We will then cycle either along the Costa Brava or to Girona, or Tarragona. All stops will include city tours, exploration further afield and a healthy balance between guided tours and free time. Tour guidance will be provided by local contacts.

Please note that places are limited, so you must register your interest before Tuesday 2 April 2024 so we can start planning this exciting trip! Only those who submit their interest will be contacted with further details to sign up.
Cost
A deposit of £120 will be requested to secure your place on this trip following the deadline of Tuesday 2 April. Additional payment, estimated to be around £250-£300, will be due in instalments in May and June to cover accommodation and other costs.
As mentioned above, preferential pricing will be given to Young Urbanist and other Members of the Academy. Non-Members will be charged a separate fee which we will confirm in due course.
You are expected to book your own travel and, food and drink on the trip are provided at your own expense. We estimate the trip to cost a total of £500-600 per person, all in.
Travel and accommodation
We will stay in high quality hostels (‘poshtels’) or hotels, depending on availability. Bookings will be made on the basis of price, location and Tripadvisor rating.
The easiest way to reach Barcelona is by plane, you can also travel by rail through France. There are many flights available from many UK cities. Find the right flights to ensure you will reach Barcelona by Thursday evening.
Filming and photography
Please bring a camera and be prepared to take lots of photographs! If you are a film-maker and would be interested in making a video of the tour, please get in touch with us directly.
Sounds great! How do I sign up?
Please keep scrolling down to fill in a quick form to submit your interest by Tuesday 2 April, following this, we will invite you to confirm your place by paying the deposit payment.
After this, we recommend you book your travel as soon as possible to take advantage of affordable pricing. More details about suggested transport options will be made available to participants once your place on this trip is confirmed.
Please note, the £100 deposit is required to secure your place (payable via Credit/Debit card), with the remaining balance due in instalments at the end of May and June. This should allow you to spread the cost of the trip over a series of payments.
