Join the Young Urbanists for a walking tour of Barking’s town centre, exploring its new and upcoming developments.
Barking town centre’s strategic position – just 15 minutes from the City of London – means that it is experiencing a huge expansion in the residential and commercial offer centred around Barking Station. With retail, creative industries and leisure opportunities at its heart, it promises to become a thriving new centre for east London. This hive of development is spear-headed by Be First Regeneration, a wholly council owned developer, aiming to provide 50,000 new homes and 20,000 new jobs by 2037.
The tour is expected to take approximately 90 minutes, and will finish at a cafe for drinks and a chat.
When: 11am, Saturday 30th July
Meeting point: Barking Station
The tour will be led by Selasi Setufe. Selasi is a Senior Architect and Innovative Sites Manager at Be First Regeneration and co-founder of Black Females in Architecture. She was recently made an MBE for her services to diversity in architecture in the Queen's 2022 New Year's Honours.
