The Academy's return to live events will be marked by The Urbanism Awards, which will take place in the Building Centre, 26 Store St, London WC1E 7BT on 24 November 2021, 17:00 - 20:30 GMT. Please mark the date in your diary – doors open at 17:00 GMT.

This is a great opportunity to share your enthusiasm for better urbanism with other enthusiasts in a lively atmosphere, at the Building Centre.
We hope you will join us for the whole event, and bring along colleagues and friends to share the excellent value that this year’s event will offer and find out more about the mission, achievements and activities of the Academy.

Programme
Networking and light refreshments – 17:00-17:45
On arrival, there will be drinks, light refreshments and time to network
Welcome and Keynote Speaker – 17:45-18:15
In advance of the final result, we will hear from Frank McDonald – author and former Irish Times Environment Editor.
The Awards Ceremony – 18:15-20:30
Ian McMillan – poet, journalist, playwright, BBC broadcaster and the Academy’s Poet-in-Residence – will present (via Zoom), the sonnets he has composed to celebrate each of our 5 awards winners.
Rob Cowan – urbanist, author, editor, cartoonist and illustrator and Robert Huxford – director of the Urban Design Group will host the Urbanism Quiz
The winners of our five awards – Civic Leader, Civic Servant, Community Activist, Urban Re-Inventor, Urban Thinker – will then be announced. This will be followed by celebration and networking.
Terms & Conditions
Anyone booking tickets for the Urbanism Awards and all members of their party should ensure they are familiar with the latest rules and guidance issued by the UK government regarding COVID-19 (https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus) and should not act contrary to such rules and guidance.
Given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we recommend that you take a lateral flow test before attending the event. Wearing masks will be optional but not compulsory. We will refuse access to anyone if we have reasonable cause to believe that they have:
- in the last 10 days, developed a new and persistent cough, presented with a loss of or change in their sense of smell or taste, or had a high temperature;
- had a test for COVID-19 for which they have not yet had the results;
- in the last 10 days, tested positive for COVID-19;
- lived in the same household as someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days; and/or
- been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace service and told to self-isolate and has not yet self-isolated for the period recommended by the NHS Test and Trace service.
We reserve the right to revise, update and/or amend these access provisions at its sole discretion.
If any member of the party is feeling unwell, displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 or believe they could be refused entry on the basis of the criteria set out above, we would ask them to please stay at home and not travel to the Building Centre on the day.
If you have booked a ticket for the Awards but cannot attend we can offer a refund up to 5 days before the event starts.
Additionally, we have attached the Covid-19 risk assessment for the Building Centre. There is a fresh air ventilation system in the event room.
