The Young Urbanist Steering Committee (YUSC) has been around since the Young Urbanist (YU) network’s inception in 2013 and has shaped the growth and development of our YU members. It is currently looking for new members to join the fold.

The YUSC is actively involved in developing and delivering a bespoke programme for YUs, as well as providing input, support and guidance to the wider AoU activities and initiatives.

Steering committee members take on various responsibilities that can include:

  • Organising and hosting events
  • Administering the Mentoring Scheme and Small Grants Scheme
  • Managing comms and social media
  • Representing the YUs within the AoU network and beyond
  • Creating new partnerships and expanding the network

Being part of the YUSC is a great way to contribute to the YU community and help to advance our goals, activities and wider impact, whilst getting to know a variety of people from across the membership.

Are you interested in joining the YUSC?

Any YU member can apply to join the YUSC. We recommend that applicants should have some familiarity with the YU network through participation in events or schemes.

This is a voluntary role and does require commitment of time, including regular attendance at meetings and events, and additional time spent on YUSC responsibilities, individually or with other YU and AoU members. The YUSC currently hold monthly meetings that usually take place on Monday evenings (18:00 - 19:00), which can be attended in-person in London or online.

Use the form linked below to express your interest in joining the YUSC. Any applications to join will be assessed by current YUSC members and you may be contacted to provide further information or a request for a meeting. For more information, speak to current members of the YUSC or the Membership Co-ordinator.
