It came as a fun surprise to the AoU team this week to find the Academy and the Urbanism Awards featured on Monday's episode of University Challenge (S31 E5).
Formed as a 3-part picture bonus, the questions drew inspiration from previous winners of the Great Town Award, and were answered by the team from Wadham College, Oxford (opponents St Catherine's, Cambridge).
You can catch up on this moment via the clip below, or click here for the full episode, which features this at the 8 minute mark.
The Great Town / Small City award, as referenced in this episode, is one of 5 categories in the Urbanism Awards, which have run since 2006. The other categories are Great Place, Great Street, Great Neighbourhood, and European City of the Year.
The Urbanism Awards programme comprises several stages, including in-person assessment visits, which runs for most of the year, from January, when nominations open, to November, when the Awards Ceremony takes place.
