Last week, the AoU team were delighted to join Alan Baxter Ltd (ABA) as they celebrated their 50th anniversary. Many will know ABA both as professional collaborators across conservation, engineering, and urbanism projects, and also as the company behind the Cowcross Street shared workspace – where the Academy of Urbanism have been based since our inception.

Alan Baxter was a pioneering force in the early days of co-working spaces, with a focus on community and commonality that remains to this day. For decades, 70 Cowcross Street in Farringdon has been home to a great blend of built environment organisations, and has a rich legacy as a hub of urbanism. The AoU is proud of and grateful for the relationships and activity fostered by being based here.

As a major anniversary of our own approaches, we at the AoU are also immensely grateful to everyone at ABA who has supported us and our work for nearly 20 years. From use of venue space, to speaking at and attending our events, and all the many other ways they have nurtured the development of the AoU.

We love being part of the ABA mosaic and wish them a very happy Golden Anniversary!
