The Young Urbanist network sits within the wider AoU membership and welcomes students and early career professionals under the age of 35. Through targeted YU programmes - like the Mentoring and Small Grants schemes - and integrated opportunities within the Academy - such as study trips, conferences, and the e-journal - the AoU supports the incoming generation of place practitioners, giving them a home as they develop their careers.

The strength of the AoU lies in its diversity. Established in 2006 its network spans sectors and disciplines from architecture and urban design, cultural programming and economics, to transport and engineering. These perspectives come together create a rich, multi-faceted approach to urbanism that helps strengthen the understanding of even the most seasoned practitioners. It’s a great community for those looking to expand their professional horizons.
