The Academy of Urbanism is an independent network that celebrates and learns from great places and the people who shape them. We create connections and share knowledge to influence and support towns and cities to thrive.

Membership of the AoU not only gives individuals and organisations access to a diverse, inter-disciplinary network and programme of activity, but in turns supports the Academy to continue to champion great urbanism across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

Academicians are our expert members, taking a leading role in many programmes such as the Urbanism Awards and Place Partnering, while Young Urbanists are the incoming generation earlier in their careers or studies.

Tailored Group Membership options are available for private, public and third sector organisations, opening up the AoU's wealth of learning to all in the team, and Academic Group Membership brings the AoU's learning from place ethos to university staff and students.

Individual membership is for those who are interested in the world around them, but perhaps don't have a professional background working in the built environment. This is a great option for urbanists looking to learn in a more casual way.
